RIF-meeting in Tallinn, Merevaik hostel, the 5th of May 2000 directly after the Team World Championship

This was not a meeting prepared with a strict agenda, but merely a meeting where we wanted to take advantage of that “leaders” from Estonia, Japan, Russia and Sweden were present. There are always a lot to discuss about the Renju-world issues, so also this time. Should mention that item no. 3 below was highlighted by Central Committee before the Team World Championship.

Participants: Yoshimi Hayakawa, Kazuto Hasegawa, Stefan Karlsson, Pavel Salnikov, Alexej Skuridin, Ants Soosörv.

1.      The Japanese delegation wanted to point out that Yoshimi Hayakawa was elected as chairman of the Asian Committee, and nobody else as it has been written in a previous protocol from General Assembly.

2.      World Championship in Kyoto, Japan, 4-12 of August 2001. Mr. Hayakawa presented the plan for WC 2001:

-         QT (Qualification Tournament):                            4-6 / 8

[Rounds: 3 ; 3 ; 1 = 7], 90 min (for 60 moves) plus 10 min

-         Regulation meeting                                               6 / 8

-         AT (A-Tournament, the Final):                             7-12 / 8

[2 ; 2 ; 2 ; 2 ; 2 ; 1 = 11], 120 min plus 30 min / 30 moves

-         WT (Women Tournament, Final) :  7-11 / 8

[2 ; 2 ; 2 ; 2 ; 1 = 9], 120 min plus 30 min / 30 moves

-         BT (B-tournament):                        9-11 / 8

[3 ; 3 ; 2 = 8], 90 min (for 60 moves) plus 10 min

Registrations to the tournaments should be made at the latest the 1st of  June 2001 to the organisers, Nihon Renju Sha. The organisers will accommodate a certain number of people for free:

-         all AT-players

-         2 WT-players from each country

-         2 persons from each country

All others will get 50% discount from the ordinary price of accommodation.

3.      Before Team World Championship(TWC) Central Committee(CC) discussed whether CC can pay some “small” money, like USD 200 for tournaments like Team World Championship. The meeting brought up this question and meant that it is very important that we within the frames of RIF can arrange low-budget competitions like TWC in Tallinn. When tournaments have relatively low costs, also a small contribution from RIF can help a lot. The meeting meant that Central Committee should have the possibility to make this kind of contributions for tournaments like TWC when they are carried out with small money. The meeting also declared its meaning that RIF can pay Estonian Renju Federation USD 190 for extra costs concerning the travels and accommodation for the referee at this tournament, TWC 2000.

4.      Youth WC in Arjeplog.

5.      EC in Zovty Vody, Ukraine, 5-12 of November.
